About to wrap up the score for the film Walk-ins Welcome. What an epic journey this has been composing, recording, and mixing this amount of original music. I am proud to have recorded some phenomenal musicians for the score including Carla Kihlstedt (vocal), Julie Rogers (violin), Adam Stacey (accordian) and Mike Lockwood (drums).
Recording voice over with Mayim Bialik (Blossom, Big Bang Theory) for an upcoming short animation film I will be scoring later this year. This film will also feature voice over cameo's from actress Roseanne Barr and musician Matisyahu. This marks the second time I have worked with director Tawd Dorenfeld from Poly Morph Productions.
I am very excited to announce that I just signed on to score my first full length feature film entitled, Walk-ins Welcome. The film is a campy, sci-fi, romantic comedy shot entirely in Denver, CO. The film is due to be released by the end of the year. Read more about this film at www.walkinswelcomethemovie.com.
I am performing as part of John Zorn's Masada Marathon at the David H. Koch theater in New York City on March 30. I will playing guitar with Secret Chiefs 3 for the evening. The concert features many amazing musicians such as John Zorn, Mike Patton, John Medeski, Dave Douglas, Mark Ribot and many others.
I have been accepted into the Society of Composers and Lyricists Mentorship program. The program brings emerging composers together with accomplished industry professionals who compose original music for both television and feature films, as well as with sound designers, recording engineers, producers, directors and other musicians employed in the television and film industries in Los Angeles. So far I have met composers Alf Clausen (The Simpsons), Gerard Marino (God of War), and attended multiple scoring sessions at 20th Century Fox studios.
I have begun to work for a world-class music house Elias Arts, in Santa Monica CA. I am composing a wide variety of tracks for them to be used in commercials, films, trailers, and documentaries.
Graduated from UCLA's Film Scoring Program. This 2 year program, which I condensed into 1 year, gave me the necessary tools and education to jump head first into LA's composing scene. Some highlights were conducting my own scores to picture with live orchestra, studying orchestration with Thom Sharp, and sharpening my technical skills with Craig Garfinkle and Fletcher Beasley.
Just completed the stop animation film, "The Esrog", for Polymorph Productions. I did all the post sound work and contributed additional music to the film. This marks the first time I have worked with director Tawd b. Dorenfeld. Dorenfeld has worked as a music video director with Serj Tankian (System of a Down), The Offspring, and Trey Spruance (Mr. Bungle).
Evelyn Evelyn's debut album is released worldwide. I engineered and performed a variety of instruments on this eclectic album, featuring Amanda Palmer (The Dresden Dolls) and Jason Webley.
Just wrapped up a short touring stint with legendary pianist/composer Wayne Horvitz. I joined his band, Zony Mash, as a guitarist for some bay area shows featuring some amazing musicians from Seattle's jazz scene.
Returning from my first ever appearance at an international jazz festival, The North Sea Jazz Festival. I was performing guitar in the group Secret Chiefs 3 as part of John Zorn's Masada project. This was an amazing experience to travel abroad and perform Zorn's music. He is such an amazing composer and musician that this was an unforgettable experience. I also had the chance to attend shows of many of my musical heroes I grew up listening to including, Mccoy Tyner, John Scofield, and Bill Frisell. This was my true highlight of 2009.
Spent the last month touring as Secret Chiefs 3 bassist around the U.S. This tour was incredible to say the least. We opened for Les Claypool (Primus) as part of his festival, The Oddity Faire. Also joining us on the festival was Devotchka and Saul Williams.
